Elder Care Choices Celebrates 25 Years!
Celebrating 25 Years of Service
Caregiving can be a stressful undertaking for anyone, and especially for those who are providing care and also juggling multiple other responsibilities each day – such as work, family, and home obligations. Twenty-five years ago, Senior Services launched a new program, Elder Care Choices, specifically designed to help support working caregivers and older adults.
Since it began in 1995, Senior Services’ Elder Care Choices (ECC) has enabled employers across Forsyth County to ease their employees’ stress from handling eldercare responsibilities. ECC specialists work locally and nationally to identify resources for older adults and provide comprehensive information and referral packages for those employees who are looking for assistance with their caregiving tasks.
The ECC program started as a collaborative effort between Senior Services and three local companies before Senior Services cast a wider net, expanding its referral services to other companies in the area wishing to contract to offer the benefit to their employees. Today, there are twenty companies that contract with Senior Services to bring this important benefit to their employees. A full list of current contracting companies can be found on the Elder Care Choices page of our website. With the expansion of ECC, the impact of the program has been far-reaching. Richard Gottlieb, who was the CEO of Senior Services when ECC began 25 years ago, hailed the anniversary as a significant achievement in Senior Services history. “The expert and compassionate information specialists of Senior Services have relieved the stress and empowered countless employees who care for an older adult while trying to balance working life. Kudos to these employee’s smart employers for providing this innovative and cost-effective benefit to them through Senior Services.”
We are thrilled to be celebrating this special 25th anniversary milestone in our Elder Care Choices program and look forward to many more years of helping working family caregivers manage their responsibilities and help their loved ones navigate the aging process.
