Don’t Miss the Creative Connections Art Classes for Seniors

Senior Services invites adults age 60 and older to explore the arts through classes being offered FREE OF CHARGE at the Intergenerational Center for Arts & Wellness located at 114 W. 30th Street, Winston-Salem 27105 (behind Senior Services). Professional artists will offer visual art classes, acting lessons, and drumming instruction in a safe, in-person environment.

Learn How to Play Pickleball

Thursdays, January 9 – February 13
8:30–10:00 am
Beginner Class

This class is designed for those who have no, some or limited Pickleball experience. The focus is to build a strong foundation for the main skills required to begin playing Recreational Pickleball. Most of the time will be dedicated to drills that help reinforce basic Pickleball techniques. If you do not have equipment, please let us know at the time of registration. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Class is limited and registration is required.

Learn How to Play Pickleball

Intermediate Class

This class is for those who completed the Beginner classes or play regularly and want to improve your game. We will continue to focus on and strengthen foundational skills plus incorporate effective strategies for game play. Time will be allotted for actual game play and situational coaching. It is recommended to wear comfortable clothing and shoes. Class is limited and registration is required.

Class is for Ages 10 and up

Ever had the urge to act up? This is your chance! Join us for Theater Acting Classes. Participants of all ages will interact with each other through reading and acting out serious and humorous speeches and learn how to deliver a message with impact.  Service hours are available for Students for their participation time. This class is Free of Charge – Reservations are required.

Create a Bonsai Gem Tree Sculpture

CLASS IS FULL

Create a beautiful gem tree sculpture. You will use simi-precious gemstone beads and a wire wrapping technique to create a unique bonsai-like tree sculpture. No soldering required. All materials are provided.

Art as Healer: Color & Emotions

Wednesdays, October 23 & 30 (this is a 2-class session)
1:00–3:00 pm

Join us and examine how colors impact our moods, behavior and perceptions. This class will reveal how color can be incorporated into our daily wellness routines. Through color, we feel; we communicate; and we heal.

African Dance Classes

Monday, October 28 & November 4
(this is a 2-class session)
1:30–2:30 pm

Get moving and have fun learning African Dance Moves. This class will focus on West African dance movements and rhythms. It’s a perfect way to learn something new and meet new friends.

Authoring Action Creative Writing 

Wednesdays, November 6–December 11
10:00 am–12:30 pm

This is the creative writing class you have been waiting for! Join us and explore a new way to share stories, personal experiences and philosophies through creative writing and presentation. From brainstorming to final presentation, this unique, six-session class teaches you ways to “Write to the Senses.”
