Senior Services invites you to explore the arts through a variety of intergenerational classes. Registration is required.

Professional artists will offer visual art classes, acting lessons, dancing, drumming, and more in a safe, in-person environment.

Unless otherwise noted, all classes are located at the Intergenerational Center for Arts and Wellness, 114 W. 30th Street, Winston-Salem, 27105 (behind Senior Services).

Crokinole on Main

Wednesdays, July 8-July 28, 2026
12:30pm–2:30pm

Crokinole is not only a board game of skill but also one that fosters social interaction and cognitive benefits for Seniors. The game encourages conversation and friendly competition
making it an excellent platform for seniors to connect with others, increasing social well-being and physical dexterity. Must register to play as seats are limited.

Weekly Wednesday Games starting July 8 at 12:30pm. Watch, learn, play!

Line Dancing with Maggie Shipley

Wednesdays, July 8-July 28, 2026
1:00pm–2:00pm

Line Dancing is Back. Join Maggie for our 4-week Line Dancing series designed for older adults. Enjoy a low-impact workout that improves balance, coordination, memory and heart health – all while dancing to great music and connecting with others. No partner or experience needed. Just come ready to move, laugh, and have fun. Sign-up for the series or for a class at a time.

Cost: $5 per person per class; or pay $20 up front for all 4 classes

Scene Study Series with Susan Surman

Thursdays, July 9-August 13, 2026
1:00pm–2:30pm

Take your acting skills to the next level through
scene performance, character exploration, and
creative collaboration. In this interactive class,
participants will rehearse and perform scenes
while developing emotional connection, stage
presence, and confidence through guided feedback
and practical exercises. Perfect for both returning
and new actors interested in deepening their craft.
Susan, aka Gracie Luck and Susan Kramer, lived and
worked in London and Sydney for nearly 24 years.
After returning to the USA, she taught acting and
communication classes.

Taste of ZUMBA Gold

Mondays, July 13-August 17, 2026
11:30am–12:00 pm

Join Paula to help motivate your Mondays. Get moving with this 6-week ZUMBA class for older adults. Enjoy a 30-minute, lower-intensity class with modified movements and an inclusive, welcoming atmosphere – all the fun and music of a regular ZUMBA class. Chairs available. Move at your own pace. All fitness levels welcome. Come check it and and just MOVE with us.

Novant Health: Better Health Bingo

Join us in July with Novant Health as part of their monthly Healthy Living Series. This month it is Better Health Bingo. Test your knowledge of healthy habits while learning more about wellness. Topics may include disease prevention and screenings, nutrition, and everyday ways to live a healthier life.

Sawtooth: Ceramic Berry Bowl

Thursday, July 16, 2026
2:00pm–4:00 pm

Spend a fun couple of hours learning something new, meeting new friends, and creating a lovely hand-built piece of pottery. Pieces will be bisque fired, glazed in the student’s color choice, and fired again for pickup 4-6 weeks later.

Intergenerational Music and Dance Summer Camp

Enjoy summer camp with your child, grandchild or favorite niece and nephew.

Sawtooth: Mixed Media Dream House

2:00pm–4:00 pm

Using ordinary household packaging and upcycled materials, you will create a small mixed media dream house. No permits, no zoning issues, no loans – just your creativity is needed to build your dream home. Class will be in Sawtooth’s Mixed Media Studio at the Intergenerational Center for Arts & Wellness.
